Mia Love’s 2016 presidential endorsement hits home; ‘my story is so similar’

mia-love-marco-rubioAfter watching Sen. Marco Rubio speak at a local campaign rally, Rep. Mia Love is throwing her support behind the young Florida Republican.

“I watched him inspire people,” the Utah Republican said of his visit.

“He had a rally. And he talked about his family. And he talked about his love for this country,” she told Fox News host Jenna Lee, Thursday. “And I realized my story is so similar to his. He has a positive agenda moving forward. And for the first time in a long time, I felt someone who really loves this country and doesn’t take for granted the benefits that this country has.”

Love said she liked the fact that Rubio “didn’t treat Utah like a flyover state” and said she “watched him inspire” the attendees at the rally.

His stance on foreign policy and national security also played a role.

“He’s been talking about these threats from the beginning,” Love said. “He talked about ISIS. He’s very strong when it comes to foreign policy, national defense. And this is a time we need a president in our country that is going to make sure we are strong.”

The choice seemed to be a simple one for her.

“Marco is the right person to do that,” she said.
