Breaking: Terrorists storm hotel taking 170 hostages, several killed, releasing those who can recite Quran

Islamic terrorists shouting “Allahu Akbar” have stormed a hotel in Mali, Africa, freeing only those who can recite the Quran.

The gunmen, who took over the Radisson Blu Hotel in Mali’s capital of Bamako early Friday morning, have killed at least three people and taken 170 hostages, the Associated Press reported.

According to Malian state TV 80, hostages were released as of 7 a.m. EST.

The hostages were released because they were able to recite verses from the Quran, according to a source that spoke to Reuters.

“They were in car with a diplomatic licence plate. They were masked. At the gate of the hotel, the guard stopped them and they start firing. We fled,” a gardener at the hotel told the BBC.

There are two to three gunmen are involved in the siege, according to various reports.

“As per our information, two persons have locked in 140 guests and 30 employees,” read a statement from the Rezidor Hotel Group.

“Our safety and security teams and our corporate team are in constant contact with the local authorities in order to offer any support possible to re-instate safety and security at the hotel,” it continued.

Turkish officials have stated five Turkish Airlines employees were able to escape.

Seven Chinese are among the hostages, the BBC reported.

Social media was flooded with images from the scene.

Still developing.
