A Detroit middle school turned into a fight club ring.
A student and a teacher at Mackenzie Elementary pushed, shoved, punched and knocked each other to the floor and it was all caught on video.
Seventh grader Diamonique Singleton said the fight only lasted “a couple of seconds” but it could lead to her expulsion, WJBK reported.
Singleton said someone called the teacher “b**ch” and when she turn around she saw Singleton laughing.
“That’s when she got in front of me,” she told WJBK. “Saying I’m a ‘b’ and she started calling me ‘b’ and I said ‘No I didn’t even say that.’ She was like, ‘OK b you got me f’d up.'”
Detroit’s interim teachers’ union president called the video “disheartening” but said she wanted to talk to the teacher before she cast judgement.
“These people are at a breaking point,” she told WJBK. “And with all this uncertainty about whether they’re going to have a job next year — you have people who are close to retirement. There’s just a lot going on, a lot of stress.”
It’s not a good enough excuse for Singleton’s sister Shamika.
“She lost control of her classroom, the situation, herself – everything she just lost control,” she told WJBK. “There are better ways to handle everything especially when it comes to a child.”
The teacher remains on the job.
Singleton is currently serving a suspension.
