The Obama administration tried to justify the president’s claim that the Islamic State was being “contained,” but CNN’s Jake Tapper wasn’t buying it as he unleashed on Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes.

Friday morning, the same day radical Islamic terrorists slaughtered 129 in Paris, President Obama said that ISIS was “contained” in Syria.  On Sunday’s “State of the Union,” Tapper bluntly told Rhodes, “If this is what ISIS looks like contained, I shudder to think what ISIS looks like uncontained.”

Rhodes’ rambling reply acknowledged the radical Islamic group’s “global ambitions,” explaining, “We have to be one step ahead of ISIL every time we can.”

“We don’t seem to be one step ahead of any terrorist group these days,” Tapper shot back.

Slamming the Obama administration’s characterizations of ISIS as the “JV team,” Tapper invoked images of Nazis in WWII.  “This is the worst atrocity in France since Hitler.”

Watch the exchange below, starting at the 1 minute mark, and note Tapper’s expression while Rhodes is speaking.  Do you think Tapper believed him?
