Watch: Chris Matthews not sure if Cruz and Rubio can be called ‘Hispanic,’ since they are Cuban

MSNBC “Hardball” host Chris Matthews wasn’t certain whether Hispanic senators and Republican presidential candidates Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio are Hispanic, even though her acknowledged that their lineage was Cuban.

He was discussing the performance of the two at Tuesday’s debate with The Huffington Post’s Amanda Terkel.

“So you’re trying to insinuate that Marco Rubio, a fellow [along with Cruz], uh, Spanish surname, I’m not sure the right word is Hispanic for them, because they are Cuban nationals or whatever, or come from Cuba,” Matthews said.
