Mall strips Christmas decorations to a glacier so it doesn’t ‘offend’ and it’s SORRY already!

Secular progressives continue to shrug off claims of a war on Christmas, but the actions of a Long Island mall proves the battle rages on.

The Roosevelt Field Mall opted to put Santa Claus in a “winter-themed glacier” this year that looks like something you might see in a Star Trek movie and did away with the traditional Christmas tree in hopes of not offending anyone, Fox News reported.

And shoppers are irate about it.

“Santa comes along with a decorated tree; he doesn’t come with a spaceship,” Maria Lovdahl told the New York Post.

“Me and my husband looked at each other and said, ‘What is that?’ They said it was because people were offended by the traditional Christmas display, that they had gotten comments in prior years.”

Lovdahl, who has shopped at Roosevelt Field for years, to include bringing her kids, said she’ll shop somewhere else this year.

Mall management openly acknowledged the change was made to avoid offending people, according to Lovdahl acquaintance Caren Toal.

“The people who answered the phone at the mall actually said, in order not to offend anyone, they were simplifying the Christmas display,” Toal said.

She is also boycotting the mall, which charges anywhere from $24.99 to $59.99 for pictures with Santa, according to the Post.

A sentiment that others embraced as well. In fact, the outcry has been so strong that the mall caved in one aspect — it added two small “Christmas trees.”

And that’s not the only change in store, as mall management said the display is still evolving — irate shoppers notwithstanding.

“Key elements are still being added to the Glacier experience at Roosevelt Field over the coming week — and after hearing early customer feedback, one of those elements will be a traditional Christmas tree alongside the Glacier experience,” the mall said.

The Post reported that workers said a large Christmas tree will be added in a few weeks, though typical holiday decor remains scarce, to include the lack of traditional carols.

The response on social media proves yet again that public sentiment trumps political correctness, particularly when it comes to Christmas. Here’s a sampling from Twitter:
