‘You’re a hack!’ O’Reilly comes unhinged in NASTY attack after George Will says book slanders Reagan

FOX News’ Bill O’Reilly came unhinged Friday as he tore into George Will for critiquing his latest book, “Killing Reagan,” repeatedly calling the Pulitzer-Prize winning columnist a “hack.”

In a column written Thursday, “Bill O’Reilly slanders Ronald Reagan,” Will was highly critical of the factual accuracy of O’Reilly’s latest book, calling the literary work a “no-facts zone.”

The heavyweights squared off Friday on the “O’Reilly Factor,” with O’Reilly claiming Will, a Fox News contributor, libeled him and failed to follow through on a promise to Fox News’ hard news chief Michael Clemente to call O’Reilly before running the article.

Setting the tone for the rest of the interview, Will disputed the claim and suggested O’Reilly got it wrong, adding that “it would not be the first time you’ve got something wrong.”

Things went downhill in a hurry, as the two engaged in a heated argument over details in “Killing Reagan” — namely over concern about Reagan’s mental capacity. O’Reilly could be seen visible shaking from anger at one point.

“You are not telling the truth,” O’Reilly charged while discussing one detail. “You are actively misleading the American people. You are lying.”

“You are somewhat of an expert in actively misleading people,” Will interjected.

In the end, the Fox News host fell back on the idea that the book was complimentary of Reagan, but Will would have none of it.

“It is not a laudatory book,” Will replied. “It is doing the work of the left which knows in order to discredit conservatism it must destroy Reagan’s reputation as president. Your book does the work of the American left with its extreme recklessness.”

“You’re a hack,” O’Reilly fired back. “You are in with the cabal of the Reagan loyalists who don’t want the truth to be told.”
