Liberal Sally Kohn forced to correct egregious ‘lie’ about 10,000 gun deaths

In a column published Thursday by CNN, lawyer and liberal commentator Sally Kohn wondered why we regulate toys but not guns, and stated categorically that 10,000 children lose their lives to guns each year.

She tweeted this promotion for the piece:

Ten thousand deaths? Really? Well, no. The actual figure is about one-tenth of that, and the vast majority of those aren’t accidental.

Kohn credited CNN’s Ashleigh Banfield as having provided her with the statistics, and the sheer numbers should have set off alarm bells warranting further research — but they didn’t.

Not to worry. John Cardillo, former NYPD officer and contributor to TheBlaze, was only too happy to set her on the straight and narrow. He showed the true statistics of gunshot deaths of children under the age of 18, tweeting:

In addition, Cardillo observed that only about five percent of those children’s deaths were “accidental” — the rest were crime-related, primarily committed by teen gangs.

And he wasn’t finished yet. He tweeted:

Kohn eventually offered this correction:

Keep digging, Kohn, maybe you’ll eventually find the truth.
