Mike Tyson makes endorsement for president: ‘Let’s run America like a business, where no colors matter’

mike-tysonFormer heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson announced Monday that he endorses and will be voting for Donald Trump as president — “big time.”

Tyson has received support from the Republican presidential front-runner in the past. Now it seems he’s returning the favor.

“He should be president of the United States,” Tyson told HuffPost Live.

Tyson dismissed the claims of political pundits that the real estate mogul’s numbers will eventually fall in favor of a more mainstream candidate.

“These people don’t know what they’re talking about,” he said.

When asked if he would be casting his vote for Trump, Tyson responded, “Yeah, hell yeah! Big time.”

“Why wouldn’t anybody like that?” he asked. “A guy that came from where he came from, doing what he’s doing in that field, and now this is where he’s at now.”

He attributed Trump’s success at the polls to America’s desire for a change in the way things are run in Washington.

Take our POLL: Trump says ‘I will be a great unifier for our country’ — do you agree?

“That means the people are tired of what you’re doing, what you’ve been doing the last 20 years. So let’s try something new! We tried Obama, right?” he said. “Time for a change. So we got to change. So now let’s try something new,” Tyson said. “Let’s run America like a business, where no colors matter. Whoever can do the job, gets the job.”

It didn’t take long for word to get around social media.

But some thought a Tyson endorsement may not be all that it’s cracked up to be.
