ABC squeals like giddy schoolgirls at ‘totally rad’ Obama’s GOP ‘Grumpy Cat’ face

That the most polarizing president in recent memory attacked the Republican opposition is not all that newsworthy, but doing so with a reference to Grumpy Cat got some in the media all giddy.

Now in the legacy phase of his presidency, President Obama spoke Friday at the Democratic National Committee’s Women’s Leadership Forum. Getting an early jump on rewriting history, and proving how out of touch he is with reality, Obama spoke about the “enormous progress” made during his tenure.

“Why is it that Republican politicians are so down on America?” he asked. “I mean, they are — they are gloomy. They’re like Grumpy Cat.”

The reference to the popular Internet meme came complete with an imitation frown from the divider in chief.

Perhaps Obama is preparing for a post-presidency career as a stand-up comedian. True or not, Friday’s act was a winner in the eyes of someone at ABC News — the network had a post on social media in less than 20 minutes, according to Twitchy.com:

The reaction on social media was directed more at ABC than Obama — at this stage of the game, many in America have already tuned the president out. One user noted how ABC “squealed” with delight over how “totally rad” Obama is.
