U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced Tuesday it’s investigating reports that one of its supervisors recruited agency employees for private sex parties at his home.
The allegations emanate from a complaint made earlier this year by an ICE employee in San Diego. The complaint, which is unpublished but was obtained by The San Diego Union-Tribune, claims a supervisor spent more than a year pressuring his subordinates during work hours to come to sex parties hosted by him and his wife at their home.
The complaint says this recruitment wasn’t simply in good fun, but was coercive in nature and constituted a gross abuse of power. Many of the participants, it claims, are “rookie employees” who are “intimidated, afraid or foolishly ‘wow’d‘ thinking participation will land them a promotion.”
The complaint also goes into some detail about the nature of the parties.
“The parties take place while their kids are watching a movie in their rooms,” it says. “Kids are told that mom and dad are working on a project with the other couples and not to disturb them nor knock on the bedroom door for at least an hour.” To prevent nasty leaks, guests aren’t allowed to bring cell phones and are checked at the door to make sure they don’t have them.
The supervisor at the center of the allegations hasn’t been named, due to the possibility the allegations could be bogus. He refused to comment when the Union-Tribune contacted him.
The sex party complaint isn’t even the first ugly allegation to surface at ICE’s San Diego office in the last year. Other complaints have alleged that racial slurs and discrimination are rife, and that management retaliates against employees they dislike. Despite repeated complaints, the office has been slow to change.
ICE has responded to the complaint going public by saying it is investigating the matter.
