A countywide elected official in Miami-Dade County is asking Republican Marco Rubio and every other South Florida member of Congress – plus Democratic Sen. Ted Yoho backs Dan Webster for speaker: ‘He will bring us together’ – Rep. Ted Yoho, the tea party lawmaker from Gainesville, says criticism of the House Freedom Caucus is off base and that he is supporting Dan Webster for speaker. “I have heard plenty of news stories – along with individuals around the district – say, ‘The House Freedom Caucus are obstructionists, they are hurting the process, and are not interested in compromise.’ This couldn’t be further from the truth and I take issue with this broad assessment,” Yoho says in his weekly constituent newsletter. Unemployment Rate Drops to 5.2 Percent in Florida – On Friday, Gov. Rick Scott announced Florida’s unemployment rate dropped to 5.2 percent in September as 8,700 new jobs in the private-sector were created. In August, the unemployment rate was 5.3 percent. September’s rate was the lowest for Florida since February 2008, something Scott noted on Friday. Read more
