Republican presidential candidate and conservative darling Ted Cruz believes Donald Trump and Ben Carson supporters will soon rally behind his campaign.
In an interview set to air on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday, Cruz told host Chuck Todd that as voters get “more educated” about the candidates his grassroots support grows and he thinks Trump’s campaign is largely responsible for that.
“I think Donald’s campaign has been immensely beneficial for our campaign, and the reason is, he’s framed the central issue of this Republican primary as who will stand up to Washington,” he said.
“Well, the natural follow up if that’s the question is, who has actually stood up to Washington?” he said. “Who has stood up to both Democrats and to leaders of their own party?”
