With CNN pushing the sexist, misogynist narrative over Donald Trump, his daughter Ivanka pushed back by saying he’d be “amazing for women in this country” if elected President.
CNN’s Poppy Harlow asked Ivanka about her father’s crude comments towards women in the past, implying that Trump’s hostility is unique towards female targets.
“I think a lot of the sensationalism around this was orchestrated, largely, by the media,” Ivanka said, describing her father as “blunt,” noting that his criticisms aren’t “gender-specific.” She described her father as an equal opportunity critic who doesn’t single out women for special acrimony.
“He’s given me every opportunity to succeed,” Ivanka said. Her father impacted her life, she said warmly, adding that she wouldn’t be the person she is today if not for her father, “if he hadn’t encouraged me, emboldened me, given me the confidence that I could do whatever it is that I set me mind to accomplish.”
