Fox News viewers got a chance to find out what it’s like to have no-nonsense Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump as a father when his son, Eric Trump, 31, went “On the Record” with Fox News host Greta Van Susteren Wednesday.
“He was an amazing father and just a great guy,” Trump, who is executive vice president of development and acquisitions at the Trump organization said. “He’s still to this day one of my best friends and my boss and my mentor. I have the utmost respect for him.”
He said that Trump’s business acumen would make him the ideal president.
“He’s incredibly quick, he’s incredibly practical,” he said. “He likes to keep things simple, he likes to get things done. He can cut through red tape and he’s an amazing man.”
Despite having a billionaire for a father, Trump said that he and his siblings were expected to work hard and do well.
“He never let us get out of line. He made us work. He instilled these really great values in us,” Trump told Van Susteren, “Listen, we were the last family that was ever going to be caught dancing on a table at a nightclub.”
He had been encouraging his father to enter the race long before he made the decision to do so, Trump said.
“Everything he’s ever touched has turned to gold,” said Trump, noting his leading in all the polls.
“He’s going to take it all the way to the end,” he added. “He is a man that does not lose.”
