Florida woman livestreams herself drunk driving; cops catch her by finding landmarks on video

A Florida woman used the live streaming app, Periscope, to broadcast herself driving drunk this past Saturday.

Whitney Beall, 23, of Lakeville, has since been arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. Beall uploaded seven videos that evening, with one titled “Drunk girl driving.”

She began broadcasting and recording her exploits in a bar before she ended up behind the wheel, telling her audience, “I’m f*****g drunk.” Some viewers contacted local law enforcement via 911. At one point in the video, Beall hits a stop sign and gets a flat tire.

This is not the first time Periscope has been used to live stream criminal behavior. In August, two Sacramento men were arrested after pursuing a man while brandishing a firearm.  In July, two teenagers used the app to live stream themselves breaking into an ice cream truck. Viewers reported the crime to authorities. Law enforcement in India is trying to use Periscope to combat crime, however, with police in Bangalore asking citizens to use the app to report crime as it’s happening.
