Body-cam shows cops freeing 39 illegals packed into semi-truck after a tip to 911

Video from an officer’s body camera shows police uncovering dozens of illegal aliens crammed into the back on an 18-wheeler smuggling them into the country.

They were packed into the truck like sardines when Deputy Aaron Ramirez and Sgt. Jerry Reyna of the Frio County Sheriff’s Department opened the back of the big rig to let them out during the Sept. 18 traffic stop.

The officers were acting on a tip called in to 911 from a person who witnessed the driver telling people to get out of the truck then changing his mind and telling them to get back in.

The officers originally believed there were only 10 people in the truck but then they saw the mass of illegals — 28 adult males, seven adult females and four minors.

“They were sweating, dehydrated, it was horrible,” Ramirez told Fox 31.

The driver, Drew Christopher Potter, 33, was indicted Wednesday on four counts of conspiracy to smuggle and transport illegals. He faces 10 years in federal prison and fines of up to $250,000 on each count.

According to a spokesman for Immigration and Customs Enforcement the illegals were treated, released from the hospital and brought to Laredo by border patrol agents, Fox 31 reported.

Reyna said in these cases the illegals are allowed to stay in America to testify at the trial.

Good luck getting them deported after that.
