Decade-long drop in deportation hits shocking low

The United States has hit a decade-long low in deportations under the Obama administration, and Hillary Clinton wants to make it even lower.

In the past 12 months, only 231,000 illegal immigrants have been deported with about 136,700 of them having criminal records, according to the Associated Press.

That number may seem high, but it represents a drop of 42 percent since 2012.

The decrease is the fulfillment of Obama’s 2012 campaign promise to focus deportations only on criminal illegal immigrants, which is an oxymoron because, by being illegal immigrants, they all broke the law.

What’s more startling is that Hillary Clinton has vowed to decrease deportations even further if she is elected president.

In an interview that aired Monday on Telemundo, Clinton vowed to be “less harsh and aggressive” than Obama.

How? By constructing a red carpet at the border rather than a fence?

“The deportation laws were interpreted and enforced very aggressively during the last six and a half years, which I think his administration did in part to try to get Republicans to support comprehensive immigration reform,” she said. “It was part of a strategy. I think that strategy is no longer workable.”

Instead, Clinton promised to reward illegal immigrants who have slipped under the radar with amnesty.

“I will not be doing what we’ve seen too much of, which is trying to, you know, make immigrants the scapegoat for everything that people are concerned about in the country,” she told Telemundo. “I think everybody is entitled to a second chance. And I don’t want to see families disrupted, families deported. I want to see comprehensive immigration reform.”

Translation – she wants more Democratic voters.
