School shooter targeted Christians: Chilling question he asked victims before he pulled trigger

boylanThe Oregon community college mass shooter targeted Christians.

The father of Anastasia Boylan, 18, one of the students wounded during Thursday’s shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, described in chilling detail for CNN what his daughter had related to him of the incident.

“He shot the professor, point blank, one shot, killed him — took him right out of it,” Boylan’s father, Stacy Boylan, told CNN. “And then, this man, had enough time, I don’t know how much time elapsed before he was able to stand there and start asking people one by one what their religion was. ‘Are you a Christian?’ he would ask them. And if you’re a Christian, stand up.”

“And they would stand up and he said, ‘Good, because you’re a Christian, you’re going to see God in just about one second,’” he continued, describing what his daughter had told him. “And then he shot and killed them.”

He indicated that the shooter used a handgun, “It wasn’t a big rifle, assault rifle or anything like that.”

Boylan’s description corroborates other eyewitness accounts that the gunman targeted Christians.

The News-Review reported:

Kortney Moore, 18, from Rogue River, was in her Writing 115 class in Snyder Hall when one shot came through a window. She saw her teacher get shot in the head. The shooter was inside at that point, and he told people to get on the ground. The shooter was asking people to stand up and state their religion and then started firing away, Moore said. Moore was lying there with people who had been shot.

And the New York Post offered this account of the shooting

“The shooter was lining people up and asking if they were Christian,” she wrote. “If they said yes, then they were shot in the head. If they said no, or didn’t answer, they were shot in the legs. My grandma just got to my house, and she was in the room. She wasn’t shot, but she is very upset.”

The gunman was identified as Chris Harper-Mercer, 26, who celebrated other mass murderers and said, “The more people you kill, the more you’re in the limelight,” according to the Daily Mail.
