Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani said that several world dignitaries have told him that they long to see strong American leadership again, and for that reason they like what they see in Republican presidential contender Donald Trump.
Fox News host Bill O’Reilly was taken aback Wednesday by the national Trump phenomenon, noting that even People Magazine was publishing his tax plan.
Giuliani corrected him.
“It’s a world-wide phenomenon,” he said. “I was in Mexico two weeks ago. Obviously, there–”
“They don’t like him,” O’Reilly interrupted.
“I was in Colombia. Different reaction,” Giuliani continued. “In Columbia some people think, maybe this is the tough guy you need that you don’t have. I just met with a number of foreign dignitaries that have been here for the UN. A lot of them. A lot of them kinda like Trump. A lot of them like the idea that maybe this guy be a stronger guy going up against the Ayatollah.”
“I think they want somebody who’s tough,” he concluded. “Because we have a president we perceive as weak.”
