Liberal journalist and CNN host Anderson Cooper went off the rails Thursday, saying Donald Trump lacks what it takes to be a leader.
“It’s extraordinary for a guy who claims to be the straight talker that he doesn’t have the guts to stand up to some loudmouth in his own crowd,” Cooper said.
Cooper’s vitriol ignited after a Trump supporter at a campaign stop in New Hampshire on Thursday asked the presidential hopeful what he plans to do about the “Muslim problem” in America.
“We have a problem in this country, and it’s called Muslims,” the man in the audience said. He also said President Barack Obama was a Muslim and not an American citizen.
At first Trump made a joke about the man’s line of questioning, and then he went on to say he and his team were looking into it.
Trump’s answer, considered completely insufficient by most journalists, landed Trump in the media hot seat.
Cooper wasted no time jumping on the bandwagon, and said Trump seemed “afraid” to contradict the man.
“If you’re an actual leader,” Cooper said, “if you actually want to lead people in this country and you want to be president to all people in this country, including the Muslim population in this country, you don’t just pander to every loudmouth in your audience.”
