Al-Qaida leader al-Zawahiri orders ‘lone wolf’ attacks on America and the West

A 36-minute audio recording being analyzed by U.S. intelligence officials is purportedly from al-Qaida leader Ayman al-Zawahiri calling for more seemingly-random lone wolf-style attacks on innocent civilians.

Fox News chief intelligence correspondent Catherine Herridge said the recording calls for a “standing order” for terrorists to take the training they’ve received overseas and launch attacks in their home country.

The recording calls for more attacks like the Charlie Hebdo shootings in Paris, and the Boston Marathon bombing—specifically referring to the Tsarnaev brothers as an example to Muslim youths in the West.

“These are attacks where there’s no phone call, no email, no texts, there’s nothing on social media telling them, ‘today is the day that we’re pulling the trigger on this operation,’” Herridge said.

The message was posted online, and widely distributed via social media.
