Donald Trump is ready for rapper Kanye West.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, the 2016 Republican presidential front-runner said he watched West’s speech at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday when the admittedly stoned rapper proclaimed his intention to run for president in 2020. (It might have just been the pot talking, though.)
“I said, ‘That’s very interesting. I wonder who gave him that idea,’” Trump said.
He said he often hears comparisons made between himself and the eccentric entertainer but he doesn’t “quite get it.”
Trump expressed admiration for West as well and believes the feeling is mutual.
“He’s said very good things about me, extremely positive things,” Trump said.
“He’s actually a different kind of person than people think. He’s a nice guy,” he added. “I hope to run against him someday.”
Now that would be a media spectacle for the ages.
