Presidential hopeful brings northern border into immigration debate; Canada FIRES BACK

Scott WalkerMaking Canadians angry is no small feat but Wisconsin governor and 2016 Republican presidential candidate Scott Walker did just that with his latest statement.

Walker appeared on “Meet The Press” Sunday and host Chuck Todd asked him why a border wall with Canada is never discussed.

Of course there isn’t a daily flood of illegal aliens pouring in over the northern border but Walker had another response that has infuriated some Canadians.

“Some people have asked us about that in New Hampshire,” Walker told Todd. “They raised some very legitimate concerns, including some law enforcement folks that brought that up to me at one of our town hall meetings about a week and a half ago. So that is a legitimate issue for us to look at.”

Canada’s Defence Minister Jason Kenney replied to the comments, which he said he had not heard yet, at a press conference in Ottawa stating that Canada would “vigorously oppose” such a wall.

“We’ll continue to remind our American friends that Canada has taken extraordinary efforts to ensure the joint security,” Kenney said. “Quite frankly, I can tell you as the former minister of immigration, that Canada has a much greater legitimate concern about the northward flow of illegal migration than the United States does of a southward flow of illegal migration.”
