Trump lights up PGA crowd with surprise visit — and one guaranteed way to get good press

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump made an unannounced visit on Sunday to the 2015 Barclays PGA tournament at the Plainfield Country Club in Edison, New Jersey, and all hell broke loose.

Not that the real estate tycoon wasn’t looking to have a little fun.

With his hand on Newark Star-Ledger sports reporter Steve Politi, the candidate issued an ultimatum of sorts.

“Make sure he writes well about me,” Trump joked with the crowd. “If he doesn’t, kick his ass.”

Think what you may of Trump, but the man knows how to draw a crowd … and it appears that Politi did not disappoint, given the lede to his story on the candidate’s surprise visit:

He stepped out of a black SUV, wearing a blue blazer and a white “Make America Great Again” hat just as a golfer who made two holes-in-one in the same round was giving an interview.

Who knew two aces would be the second wildest thing that happened at The Barclays on Sunday?

(Talk about working under the gun!)

A number of photos of Trump’s appearance were posted on social media. Photos which indicate that, if nothing else, folks enjoy being around the billionaire.

Here’s a sampling from Twitter:
