President Barack Obama was hugely embarrassed over the weekend when Democratic National chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz blocked a resolution submitted at the DNC summer meeting that would have supported his controversial pet Iran nuke deal.
The deal receives almost no support from Republican lawmakers, and Democratic support has also seen some defections — most notably by Sens. Chuck Schumer of New York and Robert Menendez of New Jersey.
Now, the Democratic National Committee, meeting in Minneapolis, couldn’t manage to vote in favor of the deal, thanks to Wasserman Shultz, a South Florida Democrat.
Wasserman Schultz’s vote block was brought up by New York Times national political correspondent Jonathan Martin to fellow panelists on CNN’s “Inside Politics” Sunday.
“The Obama-controlled DNC could not pass a resolution this weekend expressing support for President Obama’s Iran deal,” Martin said. “It’s a bit of an embarrassment for the administration seeing as it’s how his party, he appointed Debbie Wasserman Schultz [to her party leadership position], and it’s revived the sort-of latest round of eye-rolling among Democratic operatives about the state of the party.”
Although program host John King agreed it was an embarrassment to the president, he added that Martin made a diplomatic understatement.
“It was a big embarrassment for the president,” he said.

Folks on Twitter got a big chuckle out of it. Here are a few examples:

@FreeBeacon @BobG231 As long as Iran gets their 150 Billion, Obama is happy. — Larry L Williams (@_LarryWilliams_) August 30, 2015
And one noted Wasserman Schultz’s Jewish faith, and the danger the deal poses to Israel — although it never seemed to get in her way before.
@FreeBeacon @instapundit Wasserman-Schultz put faith before party? Somebody check hell. It must be frozen

And finally, a Twitter user brought up another Obama pet project the DNC didn’t support:
@FreeBeacon @donkeyot56 They didn't support the ponds, lakes, & streams grab either. So he went ahead & exec ordered it himself. CRIMINAL

And as for that one — a federal district court blocked the Obama administration’s attempt to assume jurisdiction over small lakes, ponds and streams.
All in all, it wasn’t a good week for the president. The DNC embarrassment didn’t help.
