Female reporter attacked by mob during live coverage of riots

A female reporter quickly found herself a little closer to the action than she wanted when she was brutally mobbed by protesters during anti-government demonstrations in Lebanon.

The correspondent was in the middle of giving a live report over the weekend for channel LBC TV on the increasingly violent riots, when she was suddenly surrounded by protesters as military and police fired on the group with water cannons.

She can be heard in the video screaming for help as rioters tore at her clothes and repeatedly pulled her from the camera’s view.

The assault occurred as police battled demonstrators for a second consecutive day in Beirut, amid anger over the government’s refusal to collect garbage throughout the city.

If they learned anything from this chilling experience, hopefully the news crew learned to take advantage of the zoom lens next time they are expected to get close to the action.
