The New York Post mocked former Subway restaurant spokesman Jared Fogle with a headline that thumbed its nose at President Barack Obama’s edict on prison rape jokes.
“Enjoy a Foot Long in Jail,” blared a Post headline Thursday after Fogle agreed to plead guilty to child pornography charges as well as engaging in sex with minors.
The headline defied Obama’s declaration to a crowd at an NAACP gathering in July that such jokes were “unacceptable.”
“We should not be tolerating rape in prison, and we shouldn’t be making jokes about it in our popular culture,” Obama said at the time. “That is no joke.”
Neither is what Fogle did to underage children. Pardon everyone who doesn’t care whether jokes are made at his expense.
