In Florida, they’ll give you sneakers if you give up on the Second Amendment

Kicks For GunsFor the 17th year in a row, some Florida residents traded in guns for sneakers.

The “Kicks for Guns” program began in 1999 and last year collected 802 guns, but only 21 of them were illegal, Business Insider reported:

Depending on the location one chooses, the weapons can be exchanged for a gift card or sneakers, although it isn’t clear which sneakers are up for the taking.

According to WKMG-TV, this year’s event netted more than 500 guns.

Although it isn’t clear how confiscating legally owned firearms prevents crime, the gun buybacks also included a “Guns for Gas” program in which each gun netted a $50 gas card.
