Presidential candidate “Deez Nuts” could be a force to be reckoned with — if he were real.

Instead, he is the hilarious invention of a 15-year-old Iowa boy who’s become an overnight sensation.

Democratic polling firm Public Policy Polling released its North Carolina results Wednesday, showing Deez Nuts — an independent — garnering 9 percent of voter support, and a stunning 20 percent favorable rating from Internet respondents.  That places Mr. Nuts in a solid third place behind the Republican and Democrat frontrunners Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

Brady Olson of Wallingford, Iowa, is the teen behind Deez Nuts, and he’s already achieved fame through an interview with Rolling Stone.

Is that some kind statement on our two-party political system?
Half trying to break the two-party system, half frustration with the front-runners

Why did you decide to run for president?
Because I really didn’t want to see Clinton, Bush, or Trump in the White House, so I guess I’m just trying to put up a fight.

How would you describe your political orientation? have you ever been a registered Democrat or Republican?
I’m fifteen, so I haven’t been registered yet. I side more with the Libertarian Party.

Deez Nuts even has his own website, Facebook page, and Twitter account.

Although young Brady won’t be eligible to actually run for president for another two decades, “Deez Nuts” makes a statement that at least 9 percent of North Carolina voters have embraced: that polls don’t amount to a hill of beans this early in the election cycle.
