Get set for a GUN RIGHTS fight! ‘Little House’ actress all grown up and running for Congress

Actress Melissa Gilbert – fondly remembered as a child for her role as Laura Ingalls Wilder on “Little House on the Prairie” and best known as an adult for being an anti-gun  Democrat – is running for Congress in Michigan’s 8th District, according to the Detroit Free Press.

“I’m running for Congress to make life a little easier for all the families who feel they have fallen through the cracks in today’s economy,” Gilbert said in a statement released on her website, “I believe building a new economy is a team effort, and we need to bring fresh voices to the table to get the job done.”

Well, Gilbert would certainly be a “fresh voice” for her district, since the California native has lived there for all of two years, according to the Free Press.

But being a liberal means always knowing best, even if you’ve just more or less just figured out how to get to drive your hybrid to the local charging station.

Second Amendment supporters remember Gilbert’s inflammatory statement from as recently as 2013 (about the time she moved into the district she hopes to represent as a matter of fact) blaming the NRA for shootings throughout the land.

The man she’ll be challenging is Rep. Mike Bishop, a staunch gun rights Republican who is finishing his freshman term after winning the seat in 2014. With Bishop — a concealed weapons holder — as the incumbent, and the gun-grabbing Gilbert in the race, it’s going to be a test of both sides of the Second Amendment debate.

So fondness for Gilbert’s childhood role won’t buy her much from gun rights supporters.

Maybe that’s because they’re used to they have someone else writing their thoughts for them?
