A New York City cab driver found out the hard way that you can never judge a book by its cover.
When a cab driver attempted to cut in front of an elderly couple Tuesday as they were merging on the Brooklyn Bridge getting into Manhattan, the elderly woman leaped out of her car, cane in hand, and laid the smack down on the cabby, the New York Post reported.
“The cabdriver threw a container of Pringles [out his window] at the couple. Pringles were flying everywhere,” Marc Freund, a witness and lawyer who was a few cars behind the fight told the Post. “Then they threw water at him, and then all hell ensued.”
A “good Samaritan” ran over to help but ended up also beating the cabby, as cars behind the melee piled up.
When the elderly woman landed on the ground, the older man ran towards the cab driver and started pounding on him.
“The old man took things into his own hands after his wife was thrown to the ground,” Freund told the Post. “A lot of speed to those punches.”
According to the Post, the fight halted traffic for about a half an hour and both the cabby and the couple were gone by the time police arrived on the scene.
