Krauthammer changes his tune about Trump: Has he buried the hatchet with ‘Teflon Don’?

oreillySyndicated columnist and Fox News’ contributor Charles Krauthammer could be changing his tune when it comes to Donald Trump.

Krauthammer tapped into Trump’s uncanny ability to deflect any bad publicity that comes his way and turn it into a victory.

“The way he’s survived, you have to say he’s ‘Teflon Don‘ up to now,” Krauthammer said on “The O’Reilly Factor” Monday.

It’s quite an admission from Krauthammer, who has been one of Trump’s harshest critics.

In June, BPR reported that Krauthammer gleefully cited a Fox News Poll that put Trump at the top of a list of potential candidates people would never vote for.

Trump, of course, fired back at Krauthammer, calling him a “dummy.” And looking back, he might have been right.

With Trump leading the polls as a top presidential contender just two months after the jab, Krauthammer seems to be eating his words.

Krauthammer admitted to O’Reilly that he thought “Trump mania” would have come and gone, but conceded that the billionaire has turned out to be a “durable candidate.”

O’Reilly, who coined the upcoming GOP debate the “Trump Show,” conjured up an old “Saturday Night Live” reference to describe the billionaire’s bombastic style.

“You know what I call this?” O’Reilly rhetorically asked. “It’s the ‘Jane, you ignorant slut!’ syndrome,” he said, referring to the iconic tagline “SNL’s” Dan Aykroyd used on Jane Curtin during the pair’s parodies of the “Point-Counterpoint” debates featured on “60 Minutes” in the 1970s.

Both O’Reilly and Krauthammer agreed that Trump’s presence at the upcoming Fox News debate will be good for ratings.

“So far, the game he’s played is a winning hand,” Krauthammer said. “Every time he gets attacked, it only strengthens him.”

Here’s a “Saturday Night Live” clip of the Ackroyd-Curtin parodies. Can you see the similarities between Trump’s style and Aykroyd’s character?
