Obama-appointed judge, and reported bundler for president, halts release of Planned Parenthood videos

PP-vidA federal judge has granted a restraining order temporarily barring the release of additional undercover videos directed against Planned Parenthood officials.

The order was in response to pleadings by the National Abortion Federation, which alleged that a pro-life group, the Center for Medical Progress, had recorded its footage in an unethical and unlawful manner, according to The Associated Press.

U.S. District Judge William H. Orrick III, an Obama appointee,  issued the temporary restraining order Friday in San Francisco.

The federation says the center infiltrated its meetings and recorded its members. The group says release of any audio or video would put providers in danger.

In his three-page order, Orrick said the federation would likely suffer irreparable injury absent the temporary restraining order.

The Center for Medical Progress has previously released videos showing Planned Parenthood leaders discussing the use of aborted fetuses for research.

“The safety and security of our members is our top priority,” said the NAF’s president, Vicki Saporta. “That security has been compromised by the illegal activities of a group with ties to those who believe it is justifiable to murder abortion providers. CMP went to great lengths to infiltrate our meetings as part of a campaign to intimidate and attack abortion providers.”

According to Twitchy:

Judge Orrick, a “huge Democratic donor” and bundler for President Obama, was appointed by President Obama to the bench after a recommendation from Planned Parenthood cheerleader Sen. Barbara Boxer.

Orrick’s judgeship was approved by the Senate in 2013 after a lengthy confirmation battle by a vote of 56-41, with GOP Senators Susan Collins (Maine), Jeff Flake (Ariz.) and Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) voting to confirm.

The center responded with its own statement Friday.

“The Center for Medical Progress follows all applicable laws in the course of our investigative journalism work,” the group said. “The National Abortion Federation is a criminal organization that has spent years conspiring with Planned Parenthood on how to violate federal laws on partial-birth abortion and fetal tissue sales.

“The Center for Medical Progress will contest any attempts to suppress our First Amendment rights to free speech or silence the freedom of the citizen press,” the organization added.

The center has released four undercover videos so far — the latest on Tuesday — each depicting Planned Parenthood executives bartering for the sale of harvested organs of aborted fetuses.

The Senate will vote Monday on a measure to totally defund Planned Parenthood, which receives in excess of a half-billion dollars in federal funds.

The White House has threatened to veto any attempt by Congress to defund the abortion giant, prompting these tweets:
