Hillary Clinton thinks young black men wearing hoodies are scary.
“For a lot of well-meaning, open-minded white people, the sight of a young black man in a hoodie still evokes a twinge of fear,” she said during a campaign stop in South Carolina Thursday.
The question, of course, becomes whether Hillary is one of those “well meaning white people.”
Even with the protection of the United States Secret Service, Hillary is still worried about a black kid in a hooded sweatshirt?
The bigger question, though, is what would have happened if a Republican candidate had uttered those same words?
Clinton made the speech Thursday, but you wouldn’t know it by looking at the mainstream media.
Imagine the wall-to-wall marathon of opinions there would be if the same phrase were uttered by Donald Trump or Ted Cruz.
The Twitterverse, however, had a lot to say about it.
Dear @HillaryClinton — Do you “feel a twinge of fear at the sight of a young black man in a hoodie”? Asking for a friend. #BlackLivesMatter

What should really cause a twinge of fear is Hillary as President http://t.co/EPvPQNC9RX

#Hillary says whites have a “twinge of fear” when they see a black man in a hoodie. Sorta like Hillary whenever she sees a reporter! #tcot

Did Hillary Clinton just say that she finds black men in hoodies scary? Wooow. She’s as charming as Trump when it comes to courting trouble.

Hillary says people are afraid of black men in hoodies. What about corporatist white women in pantsuits? http://t.co/ZvujHKceG0
