Deputy sheriff has strong words for punk who stole from his favorite restaurant

A Louisiana deputy sheriff has a promise for the man who robbed his favorite eatery.

And the thief might find it tough to swallow.

Lt. Clay Higgins, with the St. Landry Parish, Louisiana Sheriff’s Office, laid it all out in a Crime Stoppers video for the thief with “sort of a lanky gait” who broke into Stelly’s Supermarket on July 8 and stole hundreds of dollars in cash, according to local ABC affiliate KATC Channel 3.

““Stelly’s has been a local favorite for decades,” Higgins said in the video. “The family works hard and is known to be generous.”

Over surveillance video of the break-in, Higgins described the crime. Then he made his promise to the thief.

“Look at me, son, I’m talking to you,” he said.

“We’re going to identify you, arrest you and put you in a small cell. After that, I’m going to have a cheeseburger here, with fries and a Coke, and leave a nice tip for the waitress. Meanwhile, your next meal will be served through a small hole through a cell door.”

Anyone with information on the thief’s identity is asked to contact St. Landry Parish Crime Stoppers (337) 948-8477.
