Ted Cruz refuses to join GOP colleagues to condemn Trump

Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz practiced Ronald Reagan’s 11th Commandment “Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican.”

Cruz was confronted by reporters Saturday who wanted his take on the heated battle between fellow 2016 Republican presidential nomination seeker Donald Trump and Sen. John McCain.

Trump brought on a firestorm Saturday when he flippantly said that he likes war heroes who don’t get captured.

Republicans lined up to bash Trump for the offensive cheap shot, but Cruz wouldn’t take the bait.

“John McCain is a friend of mine. I respect and admire him,” Cruz told reporters. “He is an American war hero.”

But when a reporter pressed Cruz to denounce Trump’s comments he had a wise response.

“You know I realize that folks in the press love to see Republican on Republican violence,” Cruz said. “And so you want me to say something bad about Donald Trump or bad about John McCain or bad about anyone else. I’m not gonna do it.”
