Maybe Madam Secretary isn’t as bright as she is on TV.
The release of the first 3,000 carefully screened emails compiled by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during her time as the country’s top diplomat show her confused by the workings of a fax machine, getting taken by surprise by an occasional Cabinet meeting – and leaving behind possible evidence of illegal campaign fundraising by State Department employees.
The emails also show Clinton’s private email server – which she used to conduct public business that she could keep from the American public – was an open secret in Washington from the beginning, even if key players are claiming they never knew about it, according to the Daily Mail.
Naturally, social media had the most fun with Hillary’s fax fumbling — “Sarah Palin’s the dumb one,” one Twitter user pointed out sarcastically. The confusion was documented in an email exchange with top aide Huma Abedin.

One email showed Clinton out of the loop on a Cabinet meeting called by President Obama and unsure if she was able to make it.
The lib sympathizers over at Vox.com try to explain this apparent inattention to duty away as Hillary just missing a meeting about the “stimulus” package of 2009 — remember, that $700 billion that vanished back in 2009? If nothing else, it shows this administration really does get its news from the media, instead of actually knowing what was going on.
What’s also interesting is just how many people knew about Hillary’s borderline-illegal private server, according to the Daily Mail. So far, they include Treasury Secretary Jack Lew, former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and former senior presidential adviser David Axelrod, as well as liberal lawmakers and lobbyists.
(Libs who try to argue Clinton wasn’t following President Obama’s wishes with the private server haven’t even tried to explain why he didn’t just order her to start using a government email system like everyone else.)
The liberal media is going to ignore it — and the public’s eyes are going to glaze over — at evidence that Hillary’s employees at State were pretty openly using their positions to benefit her future political career in potential violation of federal law.
According to the Daily Mail:
Chief Protocol Officer Capricia Penavic Marshall emailed Democratic political consultant Paul Begala – and another recipient whose name the State Department redacted – to thank him for helping raise a half-million dollars to pay Clinton’s bills from her failed presidential run.
‘We raised $500K from the email contest!!,’ Marshall wrote. ‘You all are amazing – the world adores you! You put a serious hole in hrc debt!’
Federal law forbids government employees from using taxpayer-funded resources, including office computers and other devices, in connection with political fundraising – even if the money collected goes to retire old campaign costs.
Republicans slammed at that disclosure.
“What we learned tonight is troubling,” Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus said in a statement Tuesday. “Administration officials knew more than previously disclosed … and State Department officials were possibly fundraising on government accounts.”
There’s going to be much more ahead, as the emails are scheduled to be released in batches every 30 days, under a judge’s order. But the enduring image so far is of a bumbling Hillary emailing an aide for instructions on using office equipment.
