Dueling Confederate battle flag protesters were recorded on video praying together in a moment of solidarity and peace Monday, but later in the evening the pro-flag demonstrator was left with a bloody face.
Violent clashes between the two groups were reported throughout the evening and apparently took their toll on this protester, who told CBS that he doesn’t believe the flag is racist.
“The blood in my teeth and the blood on my hands is no comparison to the Southern blood that runs through my veins,” he told CBS. “But I’ll tell you one thing, I ain’t sitting down. This will just make me walk taller.”
