In the wake of last week’s shooting at a black, Charleston, S.C. church by a white supremacist, the Confederate flag will disappear from all merchandising for the popular TV series, “The Dukes of Hazzard.”
“Warner Bros. Consumer Products has one licensee producing die-cast replicas and vehicle model kits featuring the General Lee with the Confederate flag on its roof – as it was seen in the TV series,” a spokesman for the company told Vulture on Tuesday evening.
“We have elected to cease the licensing of these product categories.”
That means the General Lee, the mode of transportation used by the Dukes, will become nothing more than another Dodge Charger once the stars and bars have been removed.
Dylann Roof, the alleged Charleston killer, posted numerous photos depicting him holding a Confederate flag, and he had a Confederate flag emblem on his car’s license plate.
In the one week since the massacre of nine victims, authorities in at least three states — South Carolina, Mississippi and Alabama — have called for the Confederate flag to be removed from public display.

For those who may be unfamiliar with the show, “The Dukes of Hazzard” was a family-oriented comedy series set in Georgia and promoted no hate whatsoever — just good-natured fun.
Each episode featured the “Duke boys,” cousins Luke and Bo Duke, along with cousin Daisy Duke, battling police corruption in fictional Hazzard County.
