NY Times ‘explosive’ part 2 on Marco Rubio: Shocking . . . he likes boats!

Hillary Clinton’s cheerleaders at the New York Times have obviously identified Marco Rubio as the biggest threat to her coronation and one author thinks he knows why.

Following last week’s “hot story” by the Times that revealed Rubio had *gasp* 4 traffic tickets since 1997, the Old Gray Lady was it again Tuesday with more “important” news.

Marco Rubio likes boats.

The Times expose revealed that Rubio spent $80,000 while paying off student loans and a mortgage after receiving a book deal that paid him $800,000.

For years, Senator Marco Rubio struggled under the weight of student debt, mortgages and an extra loan against the value of his home totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars. But in 2012, financial salvation seemed to have arrived: A publisher paid him $800,000 to write a book about growing up as the son of Cuban immigrants.

In speeches, Mr. Rubio, a Florida Republican, spoke of his prudent plan for using the cash to finally pay off his law school loans, expressing relief that he no longer owed “a lady named Sallie Mae,” as he once called the lender.

But at the same time, he splurged on an extravagant purchase: $80,000 for a luxury speedboat, state records show. At the time, Mr. Rubio confided to a friend that it was a potentially inadvisable outlay that he could not resist. The 24-foot boat, he said, fulfilled a dream.

Rubio wasn’t fortunate enough to be as flat broke as the Clintons and bought himself a treat after getting paid a sum of money the former first couple could probably find in their couch these days.

But his devious deeds got even worse as he has dared to save money too, according to the Times.

Entire police dept. disbanded after councilwoman and her son were arrested.

The Rubios have taken steps to stabilize their finances in recent years, aided primarily by proceeds from his two books. Since 2012, they have started college savings accounts for his four children, put away at least $150,000, given $60,000 to charity and refinanced the mortgage on their primary home to lower the monthly payments.

None of this “reporting” is surprising as what was once the most respected source of news in America has become little more than the Democratic Party’s opposition research squad.

Author Hugh Hewitt said he knows the reason Team Clinton is so focused on Rubio — fear.

From HughHewitt.com:

Why Is The New York Times Targeting Marco Rubio?

The answer is of course obvious.

In my new book The Queen which publishes next week (and which of course can be preordered), I label Marco Rubio as former Secretary of State Clinton’s “worst nightmare.” The reasons are explained at length in the book, but HRC has obviously concluded the same and her oppo folks look to be dumping whatever they can find into the laps of New York Times’ reporters.

Other candidates for the GOP nomination can’t be ruled out as the sources for this stuff, especially the speedboat (which is a Rubio passion I haven’t read about before or have forgotten), but this reporting is neither very new nor very exciting compared to the average American’s financial history much less the mountain of financial scheming going on around the Clintons.

The Twitterverse also mocked the Times latest Rubio hit piece.
