Former President Jimmy Carter is still fighting to keep his title of “worst president ever” safe, despite stiff competition from the current president.
In an interview with AARP released this week, the ex-chief executive who presided over the “malaise”of the 1970s said America is still a racist country that won’t “let old wounds heal.”
(Let the irony of that sink in for a minute.)
“The recent publicity about mistreatment of black people in the judicial and police realm has been a reminder that the dreams of the civil rights movement have not been realized,” Carter said.
Entire police dept. disbanded after councilwoman and her son were arrested.
The former president also accused white people of harboring a superiority complex when it comes to non-whites.
“Many Americans still have racist tendencies or feelings of superiority to people of color,” he said.
(Considering that Jimmy Carter has harbored his own “superiority complex” since losing re-election to the infinitely superior Ronald Reagan in the 1980 election, feel free to let the irony of that sink in, too.)
While dividing Americans into groups and pitting them against each other are part and parcel for Democrats, the latest comments from Carter drew the ire of the Twitterverse.
Carter, it seems, is as popular now as ever.
