Selfie with parents’ sex toys for extra credit:Teacher accused of bizarre assignment

In a most bizarre extra credit assignment, a San Francisco-area teacher allegedly directed his students to search through their parents’ drawers for condoms or sex toys and take a selfie with what they found.

What’s even more freakish is that the teacher isn’t a sex ed instructor — he teaches sophomore geometry, according to local CBS affiliate KPIX Channel 5 News.

Two mothers of students are understandably incensed and want him fired.

Kimberly Cobene and Evangeline Garcia first heard about the extra credit assignment from a school counselor last month at an after-school function.

“It was to go into your parents’ private drawers or whatever to seek out sexual toys or condoms, or anything of that nature and to take a selfie with it,” Cobene the station.

While neither admitting nor denying the allegations, administrators at Encinal High in Alameda implied that the assignment may have been a joke that some students took seriously. But the moms aren’t buying it.

“From what I understand, a student actually did it and he used that as an example of what it should look like for the other students,” Cobene told KPIC.

Garcia wants the teacher’s head on the chopping block.

“We don’t feel comfortable with our children in his presence.  All they could tell us is that, ‘Oh, this is an HR issue,” she said to KPIX. “It’s being investigated.’ They are not at liberty to tell me anything other than that.  It’s kinda been the runaround.”

District administrators remain mum as to why the teacher is still employed.

“I can’t give you details about that because it’s an ongoing investigation,” Susan Davis of the Alameda Unified School District, told the station.
