Making herself and the public prosecuting position she holds ever more of a laughingstock, Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby took the center stage of a circus over the weekend.
And boy did she live it up.

Some people might think that a woman who’s pushed herself into the national spotlight with ill-considered, racially inflammatory rhetoric might demur, at least, from making a public spectacle of herself (striking semi-sexy poses to music, as a circus ringmaster, for instance.)
If anyone thinks the image looks familiar, consider that Michelle and Barack Obama have spent six years in the public eye living it up just like Mosby is. (Michelle Obama in particular might be the real role model here.)
Some people might also think that the job of a public prosecutor is to oversee a criminal justice system that ensures criminal behavior is punished while protecting the rights of the accused.
Such people don’t understand Marilyn Mosby, or the strange politics that put a 35-year-old neophyte in charge of one of the most closely watched criminal trials in the United States.

Mosby’s latest moment in the limelight came at the Universoul Circus in Baltimore, where in addition to serving as guest ringmaster, she was also awarded the “UniverSoul Circus Community Service Award” for “commitment to the well-being of the Baltimore community.”
For Mosby, the folks at Universoul Circus, and others in Baltimore – including, disgracefully, some of the city’s clergy – the “well-being of the community” includes warping the legal process into a “by any means necessary” pursuit of vengeance, while perversely defending young hoodlums who loot, burn and pillage with impunity when the mood hits them.
Meanwhile, the city’s “well-being” is also being ravaged by a wave of crime and murder that’s given it the highest murder rate 40 years – and it’s only the sixth-month of Mosby’s term in office. But what the hell. She has thirst for justice in her soul, and a song in her heart.

Mosby’s fans probably thought her antics were a riot. Responsible America was disgusted.
