‘She trashed America’: Mark Levin sounds off on Michelle Obama’s speech to grads

Conservative radio host Mark Levin said first lady Michelle Obama chose to mark Memorial Day in a most unusual way: by “trashing America” in a college commencement speech.

Obama had urged graduating students at Oberlin College in Ohio on Monday to speak out on important issues – like climate change and economic inequality.

“I want to urge you to actively seek out the most contentious, polarized, gridlocked places you can find, because so often throughout our history, those have been the places where progress really happens,” the first lady said, according to a clip Fox News host Sean Hannity played Thursday. “Climate change, economic inequality, human rights, criminal justice — these are the revolutions of your time. And you have as much responsibility and just as much power to wake up and play your part in our great American story.”

After watching the clip, Levin told Hannity that he was doing fine, “until I had to listen to her.”

“Rather than trashing the American people and the American system on Memorial Day, when men and women gave their lives throughout our history so her and her husband can live in freedom, why didn’t she give a speech about the American revolution?” he asked. “Does she sound like someone who loves this country? She and her husband luxuriate in our economic system, which they pretend to despise and which they’ve never contributed to.”

Hannity agreed, adding that Obama came off angry.

“I listened to the speech in full,” Hannity said. “And I’m thinking, all right, you’re the first lady of the United States. Your husband is the president, in spite his ‘funny name’ — to use her words. And why not tell kids, if we can make it in spite of obstacles, this is how far this country has come, righting wrongs, correcting injustices — why wasn’t that the message? It seemed angry to me.”
