Sheriff Clarke slams ‘disgraceful’ Michael Brown plaque . . . ‘welcome to President Obama’s 21st century’

Sheriff David Clarke blasted a Michael Brown memorial plaque being installed in Ferguson and laid blame for the rise in violence in Baltimore at the feet of President Obama during an interview with Fox News Sean Hannity Tuesday.

“Disgraceful,” he said of the Ferguson’s mayor’s plan to honor Brown with a plaque. “The only thing that should be drilled into the road over there is a plaque for Officer Darren Wilson, who had his life ruined, who had his world turned upside down for no reason whatsoever.

“How does he put his life back together? Why would they want to honor Mike Brown when Mike Brown was trying to disarm Officer Darren Wilson?” Clarke asked.

“That is a felony. He was engaged in felonious conduct, not only at that point, but in the convenience store. And now they want to honor him? That’s nothing more than appeasement, and it’s a disgrace.”

Clarke said Ferguson residents got justice when the grand jury decided Wilson acted reasonably and didn’t indict him.

He also ripped into the Obama administration for the recent spike in violence in Baltimore.

During Memorial Day weekend alone Baltimore reported 32 shootings with nine fatalities bringing the total for murders in the city in May to 35, the highest in 15 years.

“Welcome to President Obama’s 21st century transformation of the institution of policing,” the Milwaukee, Wis., sheriff told Hannnity. “It’s been a disaster. Unnecessary black carnage is what we saw this weekend.”

Clarke said police officers around the country “are tired of having all the maladies and the pathologies of the American ghetto — piled on them.”

“We ask them to go down and do an impossible job and then when they do and things go wrong, which they can in this imperfect world, we want to come down on them,” he said.

“No officer is going to give up on their community in terms of policing,” Clarke said. “But it’s pretty obvious to me the officers of the Baltimore Police Department have given up on Commissioner Batts. He abandoned them.”

Clarke said officers around the country “don’t want to end up on a memorial wall” and blamed the government’s increasing witch hunt against police as a main cause of recent violence against cops.

“Ever since the days of Ferguson, this thing has been politicized,” Clarke said. “That’s what the American police officer is having problems with right now.

“It’s not taking the evidence and taking the statements and applying that to the rule of law,” Clarke said. “It’s now almost this mob rule that wants not justice, they want revenge.”
