Woman found pushing her dead toddler in a swing at park… may have been there all night

Underscoring the dangers of the job, police in La Plata, Md., were called to a children’s playground early Friday morning and found a macabre scene that seemed like a shoot for a horror movie.

When police arrived at Wills Memorial Park, they found a young mom pushing a dead 3-year-old child in a swing, according to WUSA9.

Without offering details, police said it was immediately clear that the boy was dead.

The toddler’s body showed no obvious signs of trauma, and police say it appears his 24-year-old mother had been at the park all night.

The medical examiner’s office is conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death, and an investigation is under way to determine if foul play was involved, WUSA9 reported.

The mother was taken to a hospital for medical evaluation.

“It’s a very sad and tragic situation for the mother, her family, the officers,” Charles County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Diane Richardson told The Associated Press. “All of us want answers. We’re working very hard on that.”
