Proving that there are no limits to what extent Hillary Clinton is willing to grovel for the Hispanic vote, her campaign announced Wednesday that it has tapped a former illegal immigrant to head up their Hispanic outreach efforts.
(Of course, Clinton has already gone on the record to say she supports full and equal citizenship for illegal immigrants.)
Lorella Praeli, a DREAMer and immigration activist, has been named Latino Outreach Director, according to NBC News.
In a statement, Hillary for America National Political Director Amanda Renteria said, “We are thrilled to have Lorella Praeli, a DREAMer, join our team because of her courage and perspective in the fight for Latino families across the country.”
Praeli came to the United States from Peru at age 10 and was here illegally for almost 13 years before getting a green card in 2012, NBC News reported. A Quinnipiac University graduate, she became active as a DREAMer as a student there.
“Bringing Lorella into our campaign is the next step in making sure families aren’t living in fear of deportation, all students have the chance to go to college, and that any comprehensive immigration reform ensures full and equal citizenship,” Renteria added.
Praeli’s mother is in the country illegally and her younger sister obtained deferred action status through Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, also known as DACA.
NBC News noted that the younger sister, Maria, “made headlines after confronting President and Mrs. Obama on immigration, also stating DREAMers were looking at the positions of potential candidates, including Hillary Clinton.”
An interesting comment considering DREAMers are not eligible to vote.
