George Zimmerman reportedly shot in the face; sick reaction from social media

George Zimmerman has been involved in another shooting incident — and this time he’s on the receiving end.

Update: Authorities originally told CNN affiliate WESH that Zimmerman was shot in the face, causing an immediate social media storm. Updated reports from CNN say Zimmerman was injured with debris from the window that was hit by a bullet.

The man whose case sparked national protests and riots after he shot and killed Trayvon Martin and was subsequently acquitted of murder charges found himself involved in another gun-related incident Monday.

The shooting took place around 12:45 p.m. in Lake Mary, Fla., when police said Zimmerman was shot in the face after a confrontation with another driver, WESH-TV reported.

Authorities say his injuries appear to be minor.

“He walked normally into the ambulance, so he wasn’t being helped or nothing,” witness Ricardo Berrare told WESH. “They actually backed up the ambulance next to his driver side so he could walk into the door.”

“The officer was talking to him through the back window because the other one had a hole in it. It was all shattered,” he said.

Lake Mary Police Chief Steve Bracknell said the shooting may have been the culmination of an ongoing dispute between the two.

This story is still developing, but many on social media, including celebrities, disgustingly expressed glee at the news.
