Hot mic captures principal’s ‘black people’ comment; and graduation collapses

A graduation ceremony descended into absolute chaos after the principal of the private school began admonishing her audience over a mistake she made in the program.

It got even worse when she singled out “black people.”

Nancy Gordeuk, principal of TNT academy in Stone Mountain, Ga., forgot to allow the valedictorian to make his speech before ending the ceremony, according to The Grio, a news website geared toward a black readership.

Upon realizing her mistake, she tried to get the audience to return to their seats so the young man could give his speech — it didn’t go well.

Worse yet, it was all captured on video.

“I think y’all owe this young man an apology, especially that goober that was coming through with his little thing,” Gordeuk is seen telling the audience. “That was so rude. Where are you, you little coward? Come on back up here and let’s talk.”

It’s not clear who she was referring to, but the remark prompted several people who were seated to get up and leave, as others groaned.

“You people are so rude to not listen to this speech,” she continued. “It was my fault that we missed it in the program.”

Gordeuk then brought race into the equation: “Look who’s leaving, all the black people.”

The audience erupted in protest, with the comment resulting in a mass exodus of many of the remaining black attendees, as well as black graduates.

White attendees also began leaving, at least those not sitting there in shock.

While this is a bell that cannot be unrung, Gordeuk later apologized in a statement to CNN, saying her emotions “got the best of me.”

“I deeply apologize for my actions made in the emotional state of trying to let this last student finish his speech,” she said in the statement. “I take a personal interest in the success of every student that comes through our doors without regard to their race, religion or ethnicity.”

Here’s another angle of the disaster unfolding, as seen on Fox 5 Atlanta:
